Hutches should be cleaned out regularly especially in warm
weather to prevent lots of flies being attracted – otherwise
these can result in an infestation of maggots. Rabbits can easily
catch diseases from dirty hutches so make the following points part
of your routine:
- Take out any soiled bedding every day
- Once a week
Remove ALL bedding
Sweep out soiled bedding
Rinse the hutch floor and walls with warm water and a disinfectant
and wait until dry (put your rabbit in his run while you do this)
Replace clean bedding
Bedding is important to keep your rabbit warm - fresh hay, barley
straw, shredded paper, or wood shavings can be used.
